F-keys on a laptop

On a MacBook, the top row controls brightness and sound until you hold fn. To use F1, F2 and the rest without fn, turn on Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys in System Settings → Keyboard.

Settings → Keyboard → Show Function-Key Bar shows the F-keys under the panes, so every action is a click away too.

The live demo listens to your keyboard: press Space, F5 and ⌘K on a sample SFTP server and S3 bucket.
