# WebDAV, copied on the server

Nextcloud-style shares, NAS boxes and web servers that speak WebDAV, side by side with your Mac and every other server.

- **HTTP and HTTPS:** Connect with a `dav://` or `davs://` address, or pick WebDAV or WebDAV (HTTPS) in the connect sheet.
- **Basic and Digest:** Both kinds of login work, and the password goes to your login keychain.
- **COPY and MOVE on the server:** Copies and moves on the same server use WebDAV's own **COPY** and **MOVE**, so nothing travels through your Mac.
- **Quick Look and edit:** Press F3 to look inside a file, or F4 to edit it in any app and upload it when you save.

## Questions, answered

### Which logins work?

Basic and Digest authentication, over HTTP or HTTPS. Use HTTPS whenever the server offers it, so the password travels encrypted.

### How is it different from Finder's Connect to Server?

Finder mounts a WebDAV share as a disk. AnyBucket shows it beside your Mac and your other servers, copies on the server, and copies straight to SFTP, S3 or FTP. See [WebDAV on a Mac](https://anybucket.app/guides/webdav-mac).
